Joseph Smith: First Prophet and President and Founder of the Mormon Church:“Had I anything to do with the negro, I would confine them by strict law to their own species, and put them on a national equalization.” History of the Church, Volume 5, pages 218-219

FamilyFriendsFreedom says: What kind of religion is this? Their own species? Wouldn’t anyone of any intelligence realize that People of Color are human beings just like the rest of the planet. Their species….this makes me sick. You have to realize he was a prophet with the authority to speak for his god. So, this isn’t just a man making a huge mistake here….it’s an entire religion because he is speaking on behalf of his god.

“Had I anything to do with the negro, I would confine them by strict law to their own species, and put them on a national equalization.” History of the Church, Volume 5, pages 218-219

Joseph Fielding Smith: Tenth Prophet and President of the Mormon Church:

“Ham, through Egyptus, continued the curse which was placed upon the seed of Cain. Because of that curse this dark race was separated and isolated from all the rest of Adam’s posterity before the flood, and since that time the same condition has continued, and they have been ‘despised’ among all people.’ This doctrine did not originate with President Brigham Young but was taught by the Prophet Joseph Smith….we all know it is due to his teachings that the negro today is barred from the Priesthood.” The Way to Perfection, pages 110-111

FamilyFriendsFreedom says: It speaks for itself. As do all of the other quotes from Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, & Bruce R. McConkie regarding this issue. If it has changed now that just shows how it is an ever changing religion with an ever changing god. The God of the bible is the same yesterday, today, and forever…He does not change, His laws do not change, His views do not change, and I can trust a God (the only God) that does not change. These quotes are not “out of context” they are from the prophets and Apostles own mouth.

Bruce R. McConkie: of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Mormon Church:

“Those who were less valiant in the pre-existence and who thereby had certain spiritual restrictions imposed upon them during morality are known to us as the negroes. Such spirits are sent to earth through the lineage of Cain, the mark put upon him for his rebellion against God and his murder of Abel being a black skin….Noah’s son Ham married Egyptus, a descendant of Cain, thus preserving the negro lineage through the flood….The negroes are not equal with other races where the receipt of certain spiritual blessings are concerned, particularly the priesthood and the temple blessings that flow therefrom, but this inequality is not of man’s origin. It is the Lord’s doing, based on His eternal laws of justice, and grows out of the lack of spiritual valiance of those concerned in their first estate.” Mormon Doctrine, 10th printing, pages 527-528

Mark E. Peterson: of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Mormon Church:

“Who placed the Negroes originally in darkest Africa? Was it some man, or was it God? And When He placed them there, He segregated them….The Lord segregated the people both as to blood and place of residence. At least in the cases of the Lamanites and the negroes we have the definite word of the Lord Himself that He placed a dark skin upon them as a curse-as a punishment and as a sign to all others. He forbade intermarriage with them under threat of extension of the curse ….And He certainly segregated the descendants of Cain when He cursed the Negro as to the Priesthood, and drew an absolute line. You may even say He dropped an Iron curtain there. The Negro was cursed as to the Priesthood, and therefore, was cursed as to the blessings of the Priesthood, Certainly God made a segregation there.

Think of the Negro, cursed as to the Priesthood. Are we prejudiced against him? Unjustly, sometimes we are accused of having such a prejudice. But what does the mercy of God have for him? This Negro, who, in the pre-existence lived the type of life which justified the Lord in sending him to the earth in the lineage of Cain with a black skin, and possibly being born in darkest Africa-if that Negro is willing when he hears the gospel to accept it, he may have many of the blessings of the gospel. In spite of all he did in the pre-existent life, the Lord is willing, if the Negro accepts the gospel with real, sincere faith, and is really converted, to give him the blessings of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost….

“If I were to marry a Negro woman and have children by her, my children would all be cursed as to the priesthood. Do I want my children cursed as to the priesthood? If there is one drop of negro blood in my children, as I have read to you, they receive the curse. There isn’t any argument, therefore, as to intermarriage with the Negro, is there? There are 50 million Negroes in the United States. If they were to achieve complete absorption with the white race, think what that would do. With 50 million Negroes inter-married with us, where would the priesthood be? Who could hold it, in all America? Think what that would do to the work of the Church!….

Now we are generous with the Negro. We are willing that the Negro have the highest kind of education. I would be willing to let every Negro drive a Cadillac if they could afford it. I would be willing that they have all the advantages they can get out of life in the world. But let them enjoy these things among themselves. I think the Lord segregated the Negro and who is man to change that segregation?” Race Problems-As They Affect The Church (address given at Brigham Young University)

 Joseph Fielding Smith: Tenth Prophet and President of the Mormon Church:

There is a reason why one man is born black and with other disadvantages, while another is born white with great advantages. The reason is that we once had and estate before we came here, and were obedient, more or less, to the laws that were given us there. Those who were faithful in all things there received greater blessings here, and those who were not faithful received less….There were no neutrals in the war in heaven. All took sides either with Christ or with Satan. Every man had his agency there, just as they will receive rewards hereafter for deeds done in the body. The Negro, evidently, is receiving the reward he merits.” Doctrines of Salvation, Volume 1, pages 66-67

“President Brigham Young, answering a question put to him by Elder Lorenzo D. Young in a meeting held December 25, 1869, in Salt Lake City, said that Joseph Smith had declared that the negroes were not neutral in heaven, for all the spirits took sides, but the posterity of Cain are black because he (Cain) committed murder.” The Way to Perfection, pages 105-106

How have people of color been treated and what have Mormon prophets said about people of color?

When the LDS church began in 1830 segregation was the rule and even Christian churches discriminated against people of color….There is a HUGE difference because The Christian GOD did not discriminate against anyone (never has He discriminated against people of color) and the Mormon church’s god did proclarace. A curse was placed upon himim a curse against people of color so a people can make a huge mistake but for their god to make a mistake like that is pretty catastrophic. The true God says..(Galatians 3:28) “there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” Any Christian at that time that participated in slavery and segregation was ignoring Paul’s teaching that all men are free and one in Christ. God of the bible never had a part in that nor did the bible ever teach such a thing and remove it from it’s text years later. This is a religion that curses and entire people one day, and offers them greater privileges the next.

In their own words:

Brigham Young: Second Prophet and President of the Mormon Church ” I have never yet preached a sermon and sent it out to the children of men, that they may not call Scripture.” Journal of Discourses, Vol 13, page 95

He is saying his own teaching is scripture so for those Mormons that want to say well, it’s not scripture your own prophet says it was. If he’s lying then he’s a false prophet. You need to decide what you believe if he’s not a false prophet then his teachings are Scripture because he said so. So, here’s what he has to say about people of color.

“You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild, and seemingly without the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind.The first man that committed the odious crime of killing one of his bretheren will be cursed the longest of any one of the children of Adam. Cain slew his brother. Cain might have been killed, and that would have put a termination to that line of human beings. This was not to be, and the Lord put a mark on him, which is the flat nose and black skin.Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another curse is pronounced upon the same race-that they should be the servant of servants;”and they will be, until that curse is removed; and the Abolitionists cannot help it, nor in the least alter that decree.” Journal of Discourses, Vol 7, pages 290-291

FamilyFriendsFreedom says: Where in the bible does it say Cain was given a flat nose and black skin to curse him for killing his brother? Where does it say that he would be subject to being a black slave as would his ancestors until the curse was removed? IF it were true and IF the curse were removed then why are there still people with black skin? Black is beautiful people that’s why and there is no curse in the color black. Then, how dare he say people of color don’t have intelligence are wild and uncouth. He seems uncouth to me to say such a thing. Remember, Mitt Romney follows and holds dear the Mormon church’s teachings!

Another thing about slavery. I know a lot of people who have a lot of hard feelings about the slavery their people had to endure. If it was a DESERVED curse they have no reason to feel discriminated against, they have no reason to have such hard feelings today. The slavery of the African American was unjust, unfair, uncivilized, and can in no way be pushed onto the responsibility of God. Man made that disgusting choice and African Americans have every right to feel discriminated against because this was not a curse from God. It NEVER has been and it never will be.

“In our first settlement in Missouri, it was said by our enemies that we intended to tamper with the slaves, not that we had any idea of the kind, for such a thing never entered our minds. We knew that the children of Ham were to be the “servant of servants” and no power under heaven could hinder it, so long as the Lord would permit them to welter under the curse, and those were known to be our religious views concerning them.” Journal of Discourses, Volume 2, page 172

FamilyFriendsFreedom says: So, they wouldn’t help slaves and had no thought of helping slaves become free because their god said people of color were cursed to be slaves….here he says it…..their Lord put them under the curse of slavery….

“Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be so.” Journal of Discourses, Vol 10, page 110

FamilyFriendsFreedom says: The law of God, death on the spot for someone who mixes with people of African race….he also says it will always be so, so those who are marrying African Americans are not falling down dead today and why not if it is the law of God? You may say because the curse is lifted…….not according to this….it says it will ALWAYS be so, always is a long time, ALWAYS. Then, if it is the law of god then why would it change? My G_d does not change his laws, they have stayed the same since He first gave them. Why would you serve a god that changes his mind about so many things. Maybe, just maybe, he’ll change his mind about you too! The God of Abraham loves all of His creation. What I read in these teachings is not The God Of Abraham.

It is the Lord’s doing, based on His eternal laws of justice, and grows out of the lack of spiritual valiance of those concerned in their first estate.” Mormon Doctrine, 10th printing, pages 527-528

“Racial degeneration, resulting in differences in appearance and spiritual aptitude, has arisen since the fall. We know the circumstances under which the posterity of Cain (and later of Ham) were cursed with what we call negroid racial characteristics.” Mormon Doctrine, page 616

“Though he was a rebel and an associate of Lucifer in the pre-existence, and though he was a liar from the beginning whose name was Perdidtion, Cain managed to attain the privilege of mortal birth….As a result of his rebellion, Cain was cursed with a dark skin; he became the father of the Negroes, and those spirits who are not worthy to receive the priesthood are born through his lineage. He became the first mortal to be cursed as a son of perdition.” Mormon Doctrine, page 109

“Through Ham (a name meaning black) “the blood of the Canaanites was preserved” through the flood, he having married Egyptus, a descendant of Cain….Negroes are thus descendants of Ham, who himself also was cursed, apparently for marrying into the forbidden lineage.” Mormon Doctrine, page 343

“….in a broad general sense, caste systems have their root and origin in the gospel itself, and when they operate according to the divine decree, the resultant restrictions and segregation are right and proper and have the approval of the Lord. To illustrate: Cain, Ham, and the whole negro race have been cursed with a black skin, the mark of Cain, so they can be identified as a caste apart, a people with whom the other descendants of Adam should not intermarry.” Mormon Doctrine, page 114

Joseph Fielding Smith: Tenth Prophet and President of the Mormon Church:

“I would not want you to believe that we bear any animosity toward the Negro. Darkies are wonderful people, and they have their place in our church.” Look magazine, October 22, 1963, page 79

“That negro race, for instance, have been placed under restrictions because of their attitude in the world of spirits, few will doubt. It cannot be looked upon as just that they should be deprived of the power of the Priesthood without it being a punishment for some act, or acts, performed before they were born.” The Way to Perfection, page 43

“Not only was Cain called upon to suffer, but because of his wickedness he became the father of an inferior  and that curse has been continued through his lineage and must do so while time endures. Millions of souls have come into this world cursed with a black skin and have been denied the privilege of Priesthood and the fullness of the blessings of the Gospel. These are the descendants of Cain. Moreover, they have been made to feel their inferiority and have been separated from the rest of mankind from the beginning ….we will also hope that blessings may eventually be given to our negro brethren, for they are our brethren-children of God- not withstanding their black covering emblematic of eternal darkness.” The Way to Perfection, pages 101-102

John Taylor: Third Prophet and President of the Mormon Church:

“….after the flood we are told that the curse that had been pronounced upon Cain was continued through Ham’s wife, as he had married a wife of that seed. And why did it pass through the flood? Because it was necessary that the devil should have a representation upon the earth as well as God;….” Journal of Discources, Volume 22, page 304

“When he (Satan) destroyed the inhabitants of the antediluvian worlds, he suffered a descendant of Cain to come through the flood in order that he might be properly represented upon the earth.” Journal of Discources, Volume 23, page 336

Orson Pratt: of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Mormon Church:

“….among the Saints (i.e., Mormons) is the most likely place for these (pre-existent) spirits to take their tabernacles, through a just and righteous parentage….The Lord has not kept them in store for five or six thousand years past, and kept them waiting for their bodies all this time to send them among the Hottentots, the African negroes, the idolatrous Hindoos, or any other of the fallen nations of the earth. They are not kept in reserve in order to come forth to receive such a degraded parentage upon the earth; no, the Lord is not such a being.” Journal of Discourses, Volume 1, page 63

Mark E. Peterson: of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Mormon Church:

He said he was:

“Well, now, examine the character of the Savior, and examine the character of those who have written the Old and New Testaments; and then compare them with the character of Joseph Smith, the founder of this work… and you will find that his character stands as fair as that of any man’s mentioned in the Bible. We can find no person who presents a better character to the world when the facts are known than Joseph Smith, Jun., the prophet and his brother Hyrum Smith, who was murdered with him.” (Journal of Discourses, vol. 14 p. 203)

They just said that even Jesus did not have better character than Joseph Smith…then why is Jesus even mentioned or necessary?

    “…no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith…. Every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance… I cannot go there without his consent.… He reigns there as supreme a being in his sphere, capacity, and calling, as God does in heaven.” (vol. 7, p. 289)

Why bother with Jesus then? Why pretend He’s the savior if you need Joseph Smith’s consent to enter heaven. Jesus says He is the way the truth and the life and no man enters into heaven but through Him. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Who do you believe….Joseph or Jesus?

in 1844 Josiah Quincy visited Joseph Smith and he said that Joseph Smith said this to him :

“the prophet put this inquiry: ‘Is not here one greater than Solomon, who built a Temple with the treasures of his father David and with the assistance of Huram [sic], King of Tyre? Joseph Smith has built his Temple with no one to aid him in the work.’ ” (Figures of the Past, as cited in Among the Mormons, p. 138)

The History of the Church has statements that show how Joseph Smith seemed to feel he was equal with God.     “God made Aaron to be the mouth piece for the children of Israel, and He will make me be god to you in His stead, and the Elders to be mouth for me; and if you don’t like it, you must lump it.” (vol. 6, pp.319-320)

    “If they want a beardless boy to whip all the world, I will get on the top of the mountain and crow like a rooster. I shall always beat them…. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him, but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet.” (vol. 6, pp. 408-9)

 Well, it seems in his own words that he felt he was greater than Jesus, and no one can enter heaven without his consent not the consent of Jesus. Then, why did Jesus die? His death was a joke, was a mockery, was useless if Joseph Smith gives the consent to get into heaven……why is Jesus necessary for salvation. According to Mormon Doctrine Jesus Christ of the Bible is not the ONLY way of salvation! In TRUTH and in the TRUE BIBLE the ONLY way to eternal life, is without works (not because of works you don’t work your way into heaven), by grace alone, by accepting HIS blood ONLY for salvation and accepting His true virgin birth. The Mormon teaching makes him not necessary but Joseph is….So, who do you believe? According to Orson Pratt you are not allowed to make up your own mind concerning this, or speak of these things even if you do not agree. Is that fair? Is that loving? Or is that just mind control? Hmmmm.

An acquaintance of mine was bothered that I said Jesus is not necessary for salvation and that it is taught in their Doctrine. This acquaintance is a Mormon and he does believe that his Jesusis necessary for salvation but he did agree that his Jesus and the Jesus that Born again Christians believe in are different, so my statement stands because I am speaking of the TRUE JESUS of the BIBLE. However, I wanted to at least give him the benefit of doubt and make clear the difference in the Jesus about which I speak, because he says he believes in his Jesus for salvation. I told him I would make clear that I was speaking about the Jesus of Born Again Christians, the Jesus of the Bible, and not his Jesus of the Mormon Church. I hope this is more clear to readers. In my comment to him I tried to explain that even if his Jesus is required for salvation that if Joseph says he’s greater than Jesus and Joseph Smith’s consent is required to get into heaven it would make him greater than Jesus. One has to decide which to believe. One Jesus is a lie, they cannot both be true. If there is any other way to heaven than through Jesus Christ of the Bible then His Virgin Birth, His SINLESS life, and HIS death, and Resurrection were worthless. Then as far as making your own choice here’s what Orson Pratt says:

Orson Pratt says:

“Have we not a right to make up our minds in relation to the things recorded in the word of God, and speak about them, whether the living oracles believe our views or not? We have not the right.” Orson Pratt, Ibid, pg. 374

Preacher of Righteousness

(Elder Bruce McConkie, The Ensign, June 1985)

President, Ezra Taft Benson, eulogized McConkie as such and stated:

“Thanks be to God that Elder McConkie’s written words of testimony remain to continue to bless a world that needs them so desperately…

Often, when a doctrinal questions came before the First Presidency and the Twelve, Elder McConkie was asked to quote the scripture or to comment on the matter. He could quote scripture verbatim and at great length. He provided the entire Church with an example of gospel scholarship. He could teach the (restored) gospel with ease because he first understood the (restored) gospel.”

If McConkie was the one the First Presidency called on for clarity, shouldn’t that be good enough for all Mormons and shouldn’t we all be willing to accept what he wrote and taught as true LDS doctrine? We think so.

~~~~~end~~~~~ This is the same Bruce McConkie that taught that “The titles church of the devil and great and abominable church are used to identify all churches…-which are designed to take men on a course that leads away from God and his laws and thus from salvation…There is no salvation outside this one true Church,…” “There is no salvation outside The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 2, pp. 1-350.)” Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, pp. 137, 138, 670
and~
“Hence, true and acceptable Chrisianity is found among the saints who have the fulness of the gospel, and a perverted Chritianity holds sway amont the so-called Christians of apostate Christendom. In these circles it is believed and taught that Christianity had its beginning with the mortal ministry of our Lord. Actually, of course, Adam was the first Christian,…” Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine
and~Bruce R. McConkie, one of the 12 Apostles, writes in his Book, Mormon Doctrine:
SON OF GOD
God the Father is a perfected, glorified, holy Man, an immortal Personage. And Christ was born into the world as the literal Son of this Holy Being; he was born in the same personal, real, and literal sense that any mortal son is born to a mortal father. There is nothing figurative about his paternity; he was begotten, conceived  and born in the normal course of events, for he is the son of God, and that designation means what it says. Page 742
(he’s saying that Mary was not a virgin because she had sex with God and Jesus is literaly God’s son). The first statement read by EzraTaft Benson about Bruce McConkie saying his teachings were Doctrine and here McConkie says Jesus was not a virgin birth in Mormon Doctrine so this is Mormon Doctrine).
See also page 742 in Mormon Doctrine by Bruce R. McConkie
Page 743 SON OF MARY
-but the Holy Ghost is not the Father of Christ-and whenthe Child was born, he was “the Son of the Eternal Father.”
(why is this strange? The bible says Mary was given Jesus by the Holy Spirit (not sexual) and the Book of Mormon does too, but Mormon Doctrine says it’s not true). If the Book of Mormon is the most complete book on earth then why would it not say the right thing? If it is right then Bruce McConkie is wrong, but Mormons hold his teaching as Doctrine. It does not all add up.
1. This official Mormon Church pamphlet is used currently by L.D.S. missionaries. The Prophet Joseph Smith’s Testimony, pp 3, 4.
“My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join.  …I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which all of the sects was right-and which I should join. I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong, and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in His sight; that those professors were all corrupt; …” The Prophet Joseph Smith’s Testimony, pp. 3, 4.
The next attack is:
2. A part of the L.D.S. Temple Ceremony representing the Telestial Kingdom, or the world in which we now live. The wording may differ from one temple to another but the idea is the same. “The Lone And Dreary World”
“The Lone And Dreary World”
Lucifer: Oh, I see, you want religion. You want someone to preach to you. I’ll have some preachers here presently.
Preacher: My! A fine congregation!
Lucifer: Oh, are you a preacher?
Preacher: Yes.
Lucifer: Have you been to college and received training for the ministry?
Preacher: Why, certainly. A man cannot preach unless he has been trained for the ministry.
Lucifer: Well, do you preach orthodox religion?
Preacher: Yes, that is what I preach.
Lucifer: Well, if you’ll preach your orthodox religion to this people and convert them, I’ll pay you well.
Preacher: I’ll do my best. Good morning sir.
(what is this all about? well, the church is trying to say paid preachers are working for the devil and it convinces their followers not to listen to preachers other than THEIR church).
Then the ceremony attacks the doctrine of God being “…so great He fills the universe and yet is so small that He can dwell in your heart…” However the Doctrines and Covenants 20:28 tells us that God is infinite. Also, in Alma 34:36 says that the Lord dwells in the hearts of the righteous.
One of the dearest friends I have ever had was born into the Mormon faith and firmly believed it’s teachings. We talked one time about Jesus living in our heart and she said “that’s silly, that would be like me living in your heart, that would be impossible”. So, some verses from Mormon scripture talk about God living in the heart and others say it is not possible.
3. “Christians speak often of the blood of Christ and its cleansing power. Much that is believed and taught on this subject, however, is such utter nonsense and so palpably false that to believe it is to lose one’s salvation.” What the Mormons think of Christ, L.D.S. pamphlet, page…. 22.
4. “The titles church of the devil and great and abominable church are used to identify all churches…-which are designed to take men on a course that leads away from God and his laws and thus from salvation…There is no salvation outside this one true Church,…” “There is no salvation outside The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. (Doctrines of Salvation, Volume 2, pp 1-350.)” Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, pp, 137, 138, 670.
5.”Hence, true and acceptable Christianity is found among the saints who have the fulness of the gospel, and a perverted Christianity holds sway among the so-called Christians of apostate Christendom. In these circles it is believed and taught that Christianity had its beginning with the mortal ministry of our Lord. Actually, of course, Adam was the first Christian, …” Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, page.132.
The discples of Christ were the first called Christians in Antioch (Acts 11:26) Salvation through faith in the Blood of Christ was not mentioned in the Old Testament so how could Adam be the first Christian? (Romans 3:25)?
The reason it is important to point out the facts of Mormon doctrine accusing Christianity is that they now claim to be Christian and that seems strange to say such horrible things about Christians and then claim to be one unless perhaps they feel they are the true Christians and and true Believer in the full attoning blood of Jesus is an apostate.
The second reason is that the Mormon church claims anyone that comes against their religion like Al Sharpton did and anyone that says they are not Christian it accuses them of bigotry. It is not fair to call Christians or others bigots when they are saying the truth. It is not right to call anyone a bigot when you have persecuted a church, a faith, an entire world of other faiths (in fact every faith other than their own) of being a church of the devil because that faith does not believe in the church you call the only true church.
Salvation is not through a church it is through Jesus Christ alone. Otherwise, Jesus died in vain.
Why say you are someone that your own church condemns? These are from L.D.S church authorities.
There should be originals at any mormon library and inter library loan may be able to get them for you from other libraries.
These are just some of the past attacks from Mormon teaching against Christianity…..see next The Mormon church (presently accuses) Christianity & any other church than theirs.
1. “But who in this generation have authority to baptize? None but those who have received authority in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints: all other churches are entirely destitute of all authority from God; and any person who receives Baptism or the Lord’s supper from their hands will highly offend God, for he looks upon them as the most corrupt of all people. Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the “whore of Babylon” whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. And any person who shall be so wicked as to receive a holy ordinance of the gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent of the un-holy and impious act. Orson Pratt, (The Seer, page…. 255, 1854).
2. “We talk about Christianity, but it is a perfect pack of nonsense….It is a sounding brass and a tinkling symbol; it is as corrupt as hell; and the Devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work that the Christianity of the nineteenth century.” John Taylor, (Journal of Discourses, Vol 6, page…. 167).
They could say they have changed their minds and the Christianity of the 20th century is better but again it would be “changing views again” and Christianity of the bible does not change. It does not change because it serves a God that does not change and the foundations of salvation are always the same.
3. There was a question about who founded the Roman Catholic church: The answer according to Orson Pratt (The Seer, page…. 205, 1854) was……
answer: The devil, through the medium of Apostates, who subverted the whole order of God by denying immediate revelation, and substituting in the place thereof, tradition and ancient revelations as a sufficient rule of faith and practice.
The question of did the great Protestant Reformers restore the Church of Christ to the earth?
The answer: No: for they had no inspired Apostles, Prophets, or Revelators among them, without which the Church could not be restored.
Question: But did not the first Protestant Reformers receive their ordination and authority from the Catholics?
Answer: Yes: and in this manner they received all the authority that their mother church was in possession of; and the mother having derived her authority from the Devil; could only impart that which his Satanic majesty was pleased to bestow upon her,” Orson Pratt (The Seer, page…. 205, 1854)
4. “Brother Taylor has just said that the religions of the day were hatched in hell. The eggs were laid in hell, hatched on its borders, and then kicked on to the earth.” Brigham Young. (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, page… 176).
5. “The Christian world, I discovered, was like the captain and crew of a vessel on the ocean without a compass, and tossed to and from withersoever the wind listed to blow them. When the light came to me, I saw that all the so-called Christian world was groveling in darkness.” Brigham Young (Journal of Discourses, Volume 5, page….73).
6. “And Christianity, at the present time is no more enlightened than other systems have been. What does the Christian world know about God? Nothing; …Why, so far as the things of God are concerned, they are the veriest fools; they know neither God nor the things of God.” Johy Taylor (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 13, page….225)
7. “What! are Christians ignorant? Yes, as ignorant of the things of God as the brute beast.” John Taylor (Journal of Discources, Volume 6 page….25).
8. ” The Christian world, so called, are heathens as to their knowledge of the salvation of God.” Brigham Young (Journal of Discourses, Volume 8 page….171).
9. “…Heber C. Kimball was beset by a number of Baptist priests who had been attending a conference. He read them all down out of the New Testament. ….With regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world.” Brigham Young (Journal of Discourses, Volume 8, page….199).
Here’s what Orson Pratt says:
“Have we not a right to make up our minds in relation to the things recorded in the word of God, and speak about them, whether the living oracles believe our views or not? We have not the right.” Orson Pratt, Ibid, pg. 374
Text from Mormon Doctrines with some notes under the text or as introduction (My Notes in Italics).
1. God and Mary were married taught by Orson Pratt, The Seer, page 158
The flesh body of Jesus required a Mother as well as a Father. Therefore, the Father and Mother of Jesus, according to the flesh, must have been associated together in the capacity of Husband and Wife; hence the Virgin Mary must have been, for the time being, the lawful wife of God the Father: we use the term lawful Wife, because it would be blasphemous in the highest degree to say that He overshadowed her or begat the Savior unlawfully. Orson Pratt, The Seer, page 158
Does this seem incestuous to marry your own child and create a child together?
2. The birth of the Savior was as natural as are the births of our children; it was the result of natural action. He partook of flesh and blood-was begotten of his Father, as we are of our fathers. Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 8:115
In relation to the way in which I look upon the works of God and his creatures, I will say that I was naturally begotten; so was my father, and also my Savior Jesus Christ. According to the Scriptures, he is the first begotten of his father in the flesh, and there was nothing unnatural about it. Heber C. Kimball, Journal of Discourses 8:2113.
Christ was begotten of God. He was NOT born without the aid of man and that man was God!” Doctrines of Salvation, Vol 1:184. Joseph was the second husband of Mary because God was her first husband (Introduction Mine) (the following is Mormon Doctrine):
Inasmuch as God was the first husband to her, it may be that He only gave her to be the wife of Joseph while in this mortal state, and that He intended after the resurrection to again take her as one of his own wives to raise up immortal spirits in eternity. Orson Pratt, The Seer, page 1585.
If none but Gods will be permitted to multiply immortal children, it follows that each God must have one or more wives. God, the Father of our spirits, became the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ according to the flesh. Orson Pratt, The Seer, page 1586. They again teach that Mary was married to God the Father:The man Joseph, the husband of Mary, did not, that we know of, have more than one wife, but Mary the wife of Joseph had another husband. By Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, 11:2687.
This was taught by Joseph Fielding Smith, 10th Prophet of the Mormon Church:
“They tell us the Book of Mormon states that Jesus was begotten of the Holy Ghost. I challenge that statement. The book of Mormon teaches No Such Thing! Neither does the Bible!” Doctrines of Salvation, Vol 1:19
What the bible does say (Really says): The bible says she was a Virgin and it was from the Holy Spirit (not sexual) Matthew 1:18-23 & Luke 1: 34-35   THE HOLY BIBLE: King James Version
Matthew 1: 18-23
18Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.  19Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.  20But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.  21And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.  22Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,  23Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Luke 1: 34-35
34Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?  35And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
So, the bible believes in the Virgin Birth and the Mormon doctrines do not believe in the TrueVirgin Birth, although they will say they do. If they say they do believe in the True Virgin Birth without sexual intercourse, they do not follow their own doctrines.
See documents for research on this topic: Mormon Doctrine, by Bruce McConkie, pages 546-547;
8.Bruce R. McConkie was one of 12 Apostles, wrote a book called Mormon Doctrine, and in his book he says:
God the Father is a perfected, glorified, holy Man, an immortal Personage, And Christ was born into the world as the literal Son of this Holy Being; he was born in the same personal, real, and literal sense that any mortal son is born to a mortal father. There is nothing figurative about his paternity; he was begotten, conceived and born in the normal and natural course of events, for he is the son of God, and that designation means what it says. page 742 Mormon Doctrine Bruce McConkie
Christ is the Son of Man, meaning that his Father (the Eternal God!) is a Holy Man. “In the language of Adam, Man of Holiness” is the name of God  Page 742 Mormon Doctrine Bruce McConkie
-but the Holy Ghost is not the Father of Christ-and when the Child was born, he was “the Son of the Eternal Father.” Page 743 Bruce McConkie
These name-titles all signify that our Lord is the only Son of the Father in the flesh. Each of the words is to be understood literally. Only means only; Begotten means begotten; and Son means son. Christ was begotten by an Immortal Father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers. Page 546 Mormon Doctrine Bruce McConkie
To accept the Mormon Doctrine would be to make a mockery of the Bible.  It is impossible to believe the Mormon Doctrine and say you believe the Bible. Yet Mitt Romney said he believed in the bible. These are a few things that I wanted to call into the light because I knew it was not true.
God says in His Word In Isaiah Chapter 7: 13-14
13 And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?
14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Im-man’-u-el.
There is more on this topic I believe so I will post that as I find time.
I talked to someone recently that did not believe that the Mormon doctrine teaches literal sex in their version of the Virgin Birth, and that Marry was a virgin only before she became pregnant and that’s how they can call it a virgin birth. But they believe she was not a virgin after the conception (but who is a virgin after conception)? Unless, it was a miracle of God, which God says, is the truth.
The bible teaches that it was a true virgin birth and that is the foundation of Christian beliefs. Mary was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus.
 I told this person that I would find the documents that I had and prove what I had read with their own text. Sadly, my new acquaintance said that regardless of what the church teaches that it really does not matter. All that matters is that it happened and the details aren’t that big of deal and some of my Mormon friends feel the same ( it seems like most of them). The details are important to me and should be to anyone. God says they are important or He wouldn’t have even mentioned the Virgin Birth.
What Mormon Doctrine teaches about the Virgin Birth: They believe that God is a Resurrected, physical man and he is the literal Father of Jesus by the same manner in which men are conceived on earth.
Christ is the Only Begotten …, the Only Begotten Son …, the Only Begotten of the Father. (Moses 5:9.) These name-titles all signify that our Lord is the only Son of the Father in the flesh. Each of the words is to be understood literally. Only means only; Begotten means begotten; and Son means son. Christ was begotten by an Immortal Father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers. Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p. 546-547
God the Father is a perfected, glorified, holy Man, an immortal Personage. And Christ was born into the world as the literal Son of this Holy Being; he was born in the same personal, real, and literal sense that any mortal son is born to a mortal father. The first documented facts I have listed are under Mormon Doctrine of the Virgin Birth (please see Categories). There will be a part 2 to that, with more doctrine from the church on their stand on the Virgin Birth that isn’t so virginal according to Mormon doctrine. God’s Word says it was just what He said it was, a Virgin Birth.
See post on Joseph Smith saying he was greater than Jesus in his own words and from Mormon doctrine.
This blog is to give information. There is a lot of information out there that is either hate driven or just given by people that truly do not fully understand the differences between Mormonism and True Christianity. I even have Mormon friends that do not fully understand their own faith or what their doctrines teach. Some may be teaching things out of ignorance and others out of deception but the majority just really don’t know what their doctrines really say. Ask any questions you want and I will post information but the documents I will use will be from original sources of Mormon literature because that is the only true source to find true doctrinal information.
It has been concerning to me that people want to NOT believe in Mormonism so bad that they are willing to take information and offer it without really researching the facts. That is a sad affair because true documented facts are necessary for anyone to draw a true conclusion in any matter. False information is harmful to everyone involved. After reviewing the facts you will come to the same conclusion you had when you began your search (if you did not believe that Mormonism was a Christian faith), but at least it will be from true doctrinal sources and false information will not be spread.
I have had little time to post information from documents but I am working hard to give you text as well as reference so you may get your own Book of Mormon and other materials out and find the information for yourself and read it with your own eyes. I will use the documents actually recognized by the church as doctrinal sources so you may read those yourself. I can give you the references if at all possible and you may then look the information up yourself.
It would be great if you could then get out your Bible and check what you read against God’s Word. For His Word is the authority of all things and if it does not line up with what He says….it cannot be so. I will try at some point to put the Mormon doctrine and put verses next to that doctrine where it can be shown in the Bible to be contrary to what God Himself teaches. I have not gotten that far but I am working hard to get you as much information as possible.
In the Christian faith Paul instructed his listeners NOT to rely upon his words or teaching but to search the scriptures DAILY to see if what he said was true. Any faith that asks you to believe their words without searching the scriptures daily to check out what they are saying needs to be in question. If you find something contrary in scripture to what you are hearing that should be a red flag. Thankfully with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the facts don’t ever change. They are the same today as they were when they were written. God is alive and speaks to His people directly. However, He never contradicts what is in the Word of God! He is consistent.
I want to be accountable whether I am speaking about the Christian faith or the Mormon faith. They are clearly two separate things with no common ground as far as faith is concerned but common ground as people, friends, family, and those for which Christ Jesus died because He died for everyone on this planet. It comes down to whether you choose to believe Him or believe in an altered version of Him. That choice will not be made by bullying, fear, or intimidation, it will only come from love and the prompting of the Holy Spirit. However, it is a choice and one He asks us to make. Who will you say that He is? If there was any way to heaven but through Him than he died in vain and His life was a waste of time.
I give information so that there is not confusion because if you have information it allows you to make an informed choice. If you make a choice based on half fact it is not an informed choice and it is deceptive of anyone to offer half truth.
Please ask any questions you have and I will answer what I can from documents that support a doctrine or belief. If I do not know I am not afraid to ask and I will give you information as to the source of the fact or source of the information I gather for your answer. It seems there are many questions out there and so many people don’t know whom they may ask. This is true whether Christian, Mormon, agnostic, or any other faith.
Ask away and I will try to be faithful in answering or finding answers to your questions. I hope I can offer a non-threatening forum that allows questions to be asked and addressed.
Please feel free to email me.
May God richly bless you in your search for truth.
